A Little Update About What We've Been Up To...
Posted on August 07, 2020
With September right around the corner, and corona virus remaining relatively at bay, we thought we'd update you all on what we've been up to and how we are beginning to plan for the academic year ahead!
The Scottish government guidelines have allowed us to run a few non- residential weekend hockey day camps in replacement of our usual camps! Keep an eye for a ‘day in the life at camp’ on our Instagram story tomorrow (8/8) and email Jamie.Carnegie@st-andrews.ac.uk if you’re keen to join either of the 2 remaining camp weekends (9/8 and 15-16/8)- There’s a few spaces left !!
Got Consent Workshop
Our executive committee took part in the ‘Who Are We’ Got Consent workshop last week to educate us on how to be an an effective committee to ensure our club operates and is compliant with everything ‘Got consent’ represents. Our socials reps and other key committee members will also be taking this workshop and we will be ensuring all our new members take the ‘Who Am I’ workshop, with the option for existing members to retake it too. We are also in the process of drafting up a summary of our workshop to share with our members, creating documents and posters covering content such as ‘How To Report An Incident’, as well as reinforcing the universities sexual misconduct policy and ensuring all our members are aware of it. Click here to check out the Got Consent Facebook page and here to view the universities sexual misconduct advice and guidance for students (here is also where you'll find the sexual misconduct policy statement).
Freshers Fayre Video
With the 2020/21 academic year looking largely online, we’ve made a new promotional video to advertise the club! We’ll be sharing it our social media and website shortly, and you’ll be able to see it at the virtual sports fayre too!
Sadly we are unable to have Pre season as we know it this year, however the university and the hockey club have recognised everyone's safety is priority at the moment (and we’re obviously really really reallyyyy gonna miss double doggy’s on a Tuesday morning). The pitches are however able to be booked for up to 2 hours if you’re back in the bubble and keen to get some practice in! Bookings must be made in advance either by phone: 01334462190 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Congratulations to everyone who has now received their SQA exam results; we are super excited to welcome all incoming freshers to the university and hopefully the club in September too! If you’re keen to join us next year please fill out this form to register your interest and so we can start planning for the year ahead (within the guidelines of course!)
Stay Safe, Wash your hands, and please don't hesitate to get in touch if you've any queries.
