University of St Andrews - Residential Camps 2019

Posted on November 02, 2018

After a successful year in 2018 for our residential hockey camp we are launching the camps for 2019 alongside Rugby and Tennis for the first time. This will be an ambitious programme for the Saints Sport team to coordinate and facilitate one of the largest multi sport residential camps in Scotland.

The camps are aimed at anyone that wants to learn new skills in a fun environment and enjoy the small, safe town of St Andrews while meeting new and like minded people! The camp is also a great chance for students who are looking to go to a University to experience living in student accommodation and get a short student experience.

To find out further information about the camp check out the camp website.

The Hockey camp in 2018 saw 56 different participants come together from Scotland, Italy, Spain, France and Argentina. Many of the students still keep in touch and will maintain these friendships and hopefully return again in 2019.

The students will stay in David Russell Apartments (single en-suite rooms) and train at the University facilities during their camp. The social programme will again look to allow students the opportunity to explore St Andrews as well as try other sports such as climbing, badminton, table tennis and tennis as well as a scavenger hunt around the University.

The programme will again be delivered by Director of Hockey, Jamie Carnegie. In 2018 coaches were Cameron Golden (GB Elite Development) and Amy Cairns (Scotland U21) and we aim to have a similar level of coaches next year. Cameron and Jamie will be representing Grove Menzieshill in the Euro Hockey League KO16 in Eindhoven in 2019.

Thanks to you and the other coaches, boys really enjoyed the camp. The general census was best camp ever!
