Hockey Camps 2018

Posted on August 07, 2018

Our 2nd year of Residential Hockey camps have been considerably more successful than our 1st year of camps. In our 2nd year we have ran two weeks of camps, having over 56 players with us over this time, some staying for 2 weeks.

The first week was extremely good fun with 45 players attending the camp, from all across the world. Hosting players from Scotland, Italy, Spain, France and Argentina provided an enjoyable week for all, allowing the players to make friends from across the globe.

Coaching throughout the week was delivered by Director of Hockey, Jamie Carnegie, as well as Scotland Internationals, Gavin Byers, Cameron Golden and Amy Cairns. Further support and fun was delivered by India Fraser, Lorna Porter and Alasdair McCulloch. The players engaged in different technical skills each day as well as playing a tournament throughout the week.

As part of the social programme in the evening players took part in various activities over the 2 weeks including Zumba, Yoga, Badminton, Tennis and Climbing within the University Sports Centre. Other activities in the evenings included trips around the University, town and to the beach.484A4269.jpg#asset:1519

Across the two weeks lots of friendships were made and we will continue to look to develop the Hockey camps alongside other sports at the University as we try to improve and shape sport at the University.

"Thanks to you and the other coaches, the boys really enjoyed the camp. The general census was best camp ever!"

"I just wanted to thank you and your team for such a great hockey camp last week. In particular she liked the variety of skills training and the matches.  I heard the Zumba was lots of fun and she also liked the fact they had some freedom to find Janetta's."

We look forward to seeing many of the faces back again next year as we look to expand on another successful year at the University!
