Each year the University runs preseason for new and returning students.
If you are interested in signing up to hear more from our Director of Hockey and a current student then please sign up using this link, we will get in touch to either organise a group call or individual calls depending on how many people sign up and availability.
Each year we run preseason at the University the week prior to freshers week. The format of what will be allowed in August/September this year will hopefully be back to normal but we will not know for sure, if you are interested in signing up for this then please complete this online form.
Normally in preseason players will be split into relevant skills groups and can have either 1 – 2 pitch sessions per day. Educational workshops are run through the week by various members of staff. The individual groups also arrange off pitch socials and activities. The club have arranged fitness sessions on the beach, friendly matches against other local clubs as well as coaching and umpiring courses for those interested.
In 2020 the University put incoming students into halls earlier than normal and this may still be the case for 2021, if not, then incoming students are welcome to stay with current members of the club prior to moving into halls.
By signing up you will be sent information as it becomes available and then connected with players within your skills group ahead of arriving in St Andrews. Preseason is available to all abilities and players will be allocated a relevant group based on the feedback they provide in the form.
All in all, preseason is a great week for new and old students alike. For any further questions you may have please do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we look forward to hopefully seeing many of you in August!
I liked preseason because I got to meet other freshers and students in older years in a comfortable environment playing hockey. It made joining a team easier as I had already met people
Preseason was great because of how well we were looked after and welcomed by the older years and our hosts. There were also fun activities outside of hockey like pier jumping which helped me get to know the other freshers!
Preseason was such a fun way to start at St Andrews. I got to meet so many lovely people before university properly started and got to play hockey everyday, what more could you ask for?!
