Camps

Our Residential Hockey Camps take place each summer at the University’s sports facilities, where 13 to 18-year-old players from all over the world come to take part in one of our weeklong camps.

After the success of our 2021 camps, we are looking to build on them for 2022! We will be returning with 3 camps over a three - week period following on from The Open in St Andrews. This year we are looking to improve our Elite and Performance camps by having them both by application which will aim to raise the standard of player attending.

The Performance Camp targeting players who have represented their District or County in the last year. The Elite Camp will be by invite, for those playing at the top end of their District, County or Junior International level or taking part in Scottish Hockey's new Brave Academy Programme.

With our first ever residential camp starting in 2017 we have grown considerably in the last 5 years. Ahead of our 5th year of camps we have established ourselves as one of the best residential camps in Scotland seeing many players return each year from across Scotland, England and further afield!

St Andrews is unique venue for a residential camp due to the size of the town and the facilities that the University has to offer. 2022 will be a big summer in St Andrews and the atmosphere in the town will be great.

In 2022 we will have the following camps running:

The Technical Camp | 18 – 22 July

Boys and Girls Aged 13 – 17 | Open to everyone

Arriving on Monday morning after The Open this camp will incorporate more technical skills and small sided game play.

Evening activities will be included, which will not be hockey related, and will aim to get the players meeting others from across the country and making friends for life.

*This camp is a night shorter due to The Open

Invitational Camp 1 – Elite | 24 – 29 July

Coaches

While we cannot confirm all coaches in advance as some of the coaches continue to play at International Level, we are lucky to have regular coaches who have been involved in other programmes at the University join us for our camps, as well as various new additions each year.

The Camp organiser is Jamie Carnegie, our Director of Hockey, who also coaches at all summer camps. Jamie has previously coached Scotland U16 Boys and Girls Squads, Scottish Student Sport Representative teams, Won Scottish Hockey Coach of the Year in 2014 and was the Manager for the Men's National Team in 2015.
