Camps

Unfortunately due to Covid-19 we have had to cancel our 2020 camps.

We will however be looking to bring back the residential Summer Hockey Camps for 2021 and make them even bigger and better than before.

The first residential camp ran at the University in 2017 and was thoroughly enjoyed by all participants. In 2018 and 2019 we continued to build on the success of each previous year and are looking to offer the best camps that we have ever done in 2021.

St Andrews is unique venue for a residential camp due to the size of the town and the facilities that the University has to offer.

If you are interested in hearing more about future camps then please email Jamie Carnegie or to visit the dedicated website check out the link below.

Facilities

Sand-dressed synthetic pitch for hockey and Performance Suite

Resurfaced in 2012, University Park's sand-dressed pitch is a great surface for hockey training and matches.

Our brand new dedicated Strength and Conditioning Suite opened in December 2016 and provides a private space for teams to train undisturbed away from our regular gym users. Featuring five lifting stations, a three-lane plyometric track and designated ‘rehab zone’, the new performance suite will also offer video analysis technology.

The facilitates at University Park have been recognised throughout the sporting world, playing host to professional training camps. Recent years have saw Manchester United, FC Barcelona and many more elite teams travel to St. Andrews to make use of our fantastic facilities, with the Croatia National football team set to make base in St. Andrews during Euro 2020.

Coaches

While we cannot confirm all coaches in advance as some of the coaches continue to play at International Level, we are lucky to have regular coaches who have been involved in other programmes at the University join us for our camps, as well as various new additions each year.

Coaches for 2019 included Cameron Golden from Grove Menzieshill HC (now Klein Zwitserland) who also represents the GB Elite Development Programme; Jamie Cachia, currently coaching with University of Durham and ex - Scotland International GK; Ben Stevenson, University of Nottingham and ex - England U21 International.

The Camp organiser is Jamie Carnegie, our Director of Hockey, who also coaches at all summer camps. Jamie has previously coached Scotland U16 Boys and Girls Squads, Scottish Student Sport Representative teams, Won Scottish Hockey Coach of the Year in 2014 and was the Manager for the Men's National Team in 2015.
